Jo and David’s delicate pastel spring Engine Works Glasgow Wedding Flowers
The Engine Works Glasgow wedding is fast becoming one of our favourite venues having first seen it when we did a photoshoot in 2018. Since then the renovations have finished and it’s gone on to become one of Glasgow’s coolest venues for couples looking for an industrial or alternative space for their wedding. As a blank canvas venue it has lots of scope to make it your own and Jo and David gave us lots of creative freedom to create floral installations and really bring the outdoors in for the wedding reception.
airy flower clouds in three of the bricked up windows along the far wall
We created beautiful airy flower clouds in three of the bricked up windows along the far wall which served as a gorgeous backdrop for the reception. We also created an organic shaped installation around an old fireplace in a side room where guests could go to relax in between ceilidh dancing and partying. All of these installations used locally grown Scottish flowers like blossom, tulips and anemone and were constructed in an environmentally friendly, foam-free way.
vintage stoneware and earthenware bottles filled with spring flowers
The tables for the reception were set out in long banquet style rows and we added vintage stoneware and earthenware bottles filled with spring flowers such as snowdrop, fritillary, hellebore, narcissus and pussywillow in muted pastel shades dotted all along the centre of the tables. We worked with the bride to style these tables with Ester and Erik candles in muted colours to complement the flowers. We also added a loose foliage runner woven in between the vases and coloured candles. Each guest’s name was handwritten by Brahmin Lettering on leaves provided by us as place names.
delicate pedestal arrangements in tall vases which used seasonal blooms
For the ceremony at Glasgow University Chapel we created two delicate pedestal arrangements in tall vases which used seasonal blooms like early rhododendron, tulip and anemone. After the ceremony these arrangements were then moved to the Engine Works for the reception and placed in the main hall as added decoration.
dried buttonholes of thistle, wheat, eucalyptus and lavender
The groom and groomsmen had dried buttonholes of thistle, wheat, eucalyptus and lavender which worked really well with the muted pastel tones of the bridal flowers and looked great against the fabric of their suit jackets.
bridal bouquet with spring personified, filled with delicate seasonal flowers
The bridal bouquet was spring personified, filled with delicate seasonal flowers like anemone, blossom, spirea, fritillaries, leucojum, ranunculus and narcissus. We finished with beautiful hand dyed blush pink silk ribbon. The bridesmaids had matching posies inspired by the bridal bouquet and we provided earthenware vases at the Engine Works for them to put their bouquets in once the photos had been taken. This meant the flowers last longer and provided extra decoration.
couple were really passionate about keeping the flowers as sustainable as possible so we used all Scottish grown flowers
The couple were really passionate about keeping the flowers as sustainable as possible so we used all Scottish grown flowers with Irish eucalyptus and some dried elements such as dried honesty, grasses and lavender. All the installations were created using sustainable mechanics and you can read more about our sustainability policy and goals on our website HERE.
