Logan and Gary’s colourful spring Kelburn Castle Wedding
Kelburn Castle is famous for its colourful murals and beautiful woods and gardens so we were really excited to be asked by this couple to provide flowers for their wild flower themed colourful spring wedding which included their wee pug dog, and we got to work with some of our favourite photographers Jo + Liam too!
Scottish grown seasonal flowers and lots of spring foliage
We used almost all Scottish grown seasonal flowers and lots of spring foliage such as larch and laurel to decorate the wedding. May is a great time for Scottish grown flowers as the growing season really gets into its stride.
wild flower styled hand tied bridal bouquet with seasonal blooms
For Logan’s bouquet we created a wild flower styled hand tied arrangement filled with seasonal blooms such as dicentra, perennial cornflower, geum, bluebell, tulip, wallflower, columbine, sweet rocket, forget me knot, ranunculus, melancholy thistle, nepeta and orlaya mixed with delicate birch foliage.
Thistle buttonholes for the gents mixed in with bright seasonal flowers to tie in with the other wedding flowers
This beautiful mixture of seasonal and locally grown flowers carried a gorgeous scent and was perfect for the laid back wild flower theme and relaxed feel of the day. For her bridesmaids we created posies inspired by the bridal bouquet but smaller and we made thistle buttonholes for the gents mixed in with bright seasonal flowers to tie in with the other wedding flowers.
Jam jars of colourful spring flowers which were also used for the wedding reception
The couple had a romantic ceremony in the walled garden where we hung jam jars of colourful spring flowers from the chairs and added some small arrangements to the signing table. These could then be easily moved to the Pavilion where the couple had their wedding reception.
Woodland inspired Ceiling dressed with branches of larch, laurel and smooth-leafed holly
Here we dressed the beams in the ceiling with branches of larch, laurel and smooth-leafed holly to create a woodland – lord of the rings feel and fill the space with a forest scent. This worked really well with the green cheesecloth runners the couple had added to their guest tables. Adding greenery up high in a venue can really transform the space and give it a wow factor for guests as they enter.
Vintage brass pots, jugs and vases and we filled these with delicate colourful spring flowers and dotted them down the tables
The couple had collected lots of different shaped and sized vintage brass pots, jugs and vases and we filled these with colourful spring flowers and dotted them down the tables alongside tiny brown glass bottles of flowers, creating a bright but delicate effect.
