Frances and Kevin’s Rustic Spring Barn Wild Flower Dalduff Barn wedding
Kevin and Frances were a super fun relaxed couple getting married at Dalduff Barn in the spring of 2022. They loved autumnal colours which might seem strange in March but we love a challenge so we filled their rustic venue with seasonal flowers in warm oranges, peaches, golds and yellows which worked brilliantly even if people usually associate them with autumn. It definitely made us realise there’s no rules to what colours you can have at your wedding and we’re all for challenging the norm!
Bridal bouquet with gorgeous toffee-coloured roses alongside seasonal flowers in warm oranges, peaches, golds and yellows
For Frances’ gorgeous bridal bouquet we used a mix of imported and Scottish grown flowers as it was still quite early in the growing season so full Scottish grown would have been difficult. We used gorgeous toffee coloured roses alongside poppies, skimmia, forsythia, tulips, fritillary, wallflower and snapdragon.
flower hoops with Scottish grown and dried materials in autumnal colours bound onto a hand woven vine base
For their bridesmaids, we created beautiful dried flower hoops with Scottish-grown and dried materials in autumnal colours bound onto a hand-woven vine base. These could then be kept by the bridesmaids and hung at home after the ceremony. The warm oranges, reds, browns and yellows contrasted beautifully with their emerald green bridesmaid dresses.

The groom, groomsmen and dads wore rustic buttonholes of rosemary, wheat, scabiosa seed heads and hypericum berries bound with brown twine to match in with the autumn colours of the other wedding flowers.
hanging foliage backdrop with ferns and ruscus
The couple had their ceremony in the Dutch barn where we created a hanging foliage backdrop for the couple to stand in front of. We used a large branch they had found on a dog walk and hung ferns and ruscus like a curtain from it which was really effective. They then moved this to the main barn to hang behind the top table for the reception. This is a great way to get the most of your wedding flowers as both the ceremony spot and top table are spaces where there will be lots of photos so you know your flowers will feature in them.
rustic boxes filled with flowers in a wild flower meadow style
Other flowers for the ceremony included two meadow boxes, which are rustic boxes filled with flowers in a wild flower meadow style. We have lots of different sizes of these boxes and they are a great way to create a relaxed meadowy feel for barn venues or outdoor weddings but are striking and create impact. They are also created without floral foam to be more environmentally friendly, and can be easily moved around the venue to be used at different points in the day.
Aisle lined with gin bottles and filled with seasonal wild flowers
We also lined the aisle with gin bottles which the couple had collected filled with seasonal wild flowers, again these could also be moved post-ceremony and were a great way to simply decorate the space and draw the eye and the colour theme down the aisle. These bottles were then moved to the tables for the reception where they could easily fit in between sharing platters.
