Georgia and Pete’s colourful Summer wedding at Rosebery Steading
Rosebery Steading near Gorebridge was a new venue to us so we were really excited to get the chance to decorate it with beautiful bright flowers for Georgia and Pete’s summer wedding. The venue has lots of gorgeous rustic period features and versatile spaces you can adapt for the different parts of your wedding.
A focus on sustainable and seasonal flowers
We used all Scottish grown seasonal flowers for the bouquets and table flowers from a variety of Scottish flower farms and from the Briar Rose cutting garden as the bride was really keen that the flowers be as sustainable as possible in terms of where they were sourced and how they were arranged.
An unusual colour scheme
The couple’s striking colour scheme of blues, oranges, peaches and whites was really effective and created a pop of colour throughout the venue without looking too garish. Peach was key in making the contrast between the blue and orange not too stark. This unusual colour combination has grown in popularity and we’ve been asked for it several times over the past few years. For another look at how it can work later in summer (September) take a look at Jane and Matt’s wedding in the wedding gallery HERE.
Bridal bouquets and bridesmaid bouquets
For Georgia’s bouquet we created a wild flower style loose hand-tied arrangement filled with seasonal blooms such as perennial and annual cornflower, roses, geum, lupin, peony, ranunculus, anemone, nepeta and orlaya mixed with delicate seasonal foliage. The bouquet was finished with beautiful hand dyed silk ribbon which looked really pretty moving in the breeze in the outdoor ceremony.
The bridesmaids and flower girl had sweet relaxed posies all in blue flowers with seasonal favourites like anemone, cornflower and lupin. The bouquets were then all placed in vases along the top table and around the reception space after the ceremony.
Reception flowers with vintage earthenware and olive glass bottles
As well as the vases for the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets we decorated the reception tables with an assortment of vintage earthenware and olive green glass bottles. The bottles from the wooden crates and signing table at the ceremony were moved to other parts of the venue such as on rustic ladders at the bar, so all of the flowers could be repurposed throughout the day.
