In the days before Coronavirus dominated our thoughts (remember them?!) we were gearing up for a busy wedding season in 2020 and one of our first weddings (and it turned out one of our last for quite a while) was a beautiful colourful city centre wedding in mid March.
Style and colour
Michelle and Maura were ahead of the curve with the bright and bold themed Micro Wedding, keeping it small and intimate before it was the new normal. Their elegant but fun wedding took place in Glasgow’s Corinthian and was full of fun details and colourful styling proving you can keep your wedding sophisticated while still making it fun and bright.
The bridal bouquet
Michelle wore a gorgeous Flossy and Dossy dress (WITH POCKETS!) and we used mainly British grown seasonal spring flowers to create her colourful bouquet and venue flowers. We included in her natural and loose hand-tied bridal bouquet cheerful narcissus, tulips, hellebore, iris, anemone and viburnum. We also used some imported clematis and poppies to add some movement to the bouquet so the flower heads danced as Michelle carried her bouquet down the aisle.
Mauro and his groomsmen had thistle buttonholes with some mixed spring flowers and herbs to tie in with the bridal bouquet and other wedding flowers.
The wedding reception flowers
For the reception Michelle had collected lots of beautiful coloured glass vases and tea light holders which we filled with bouquets for each of the guests. The effect of all these bouquets in their colourful vases in the candlelight was breath taking, like a rainbow carpet of flowers down the length of the table and really made the room come alive. As the room itself was decorated in fairly muted shade with wood panelling the mixture of bright flowers and coloured glass against white table linen was a great way to really lift the space and make it very special.
Small but impactful
This simple design also shows that even on a small scale your wedding flowers can make a great impact to the space without necessarily needing to have hanging pieces or larger arches and installations. The individual bouquets and vases were then gifted to the wedding guests so there wasn’t any waste.
Even with the advances in the vaccine it looks like micro weddings are here to stay for a while so if you’re planning a micro wedding and have been inspired by Michelle and Mauro’s beautiful bright celebration get in touch and see how we can turn your small celebration into something beautiful.
