flower planning
Consultations usually last around an hour or so, and are a great way of getting all your initial thoughts and questions out, and probably finding some more along the way. Bring with you any ideas you may have seen, a picture of your outfits and your scrapbook/pinterest login. We will go through all your floral requirements from your buttonholes and bouquets to your ceremony and reception plans, so it’s good if you can come armed with rough table numbers etc.
Please note that we do ask that we are the only providers of flowers or foliage for your wedding. When other florists, stylists and family members provide flowers etc it can create a mismatch in style and it is hard to ensure their materials are of a similar quality. We have often arrived to see flowers provided by other parties looking sad and wilted long before the ceremony.
flower Budget
This is a scary word for some and people tend to squirm a bit when asked about their wedding flower budget so come prepared with a rough figure or price band in mind. It is good to have an idea of your floral budget before you come so that we can work to your wedding plans. You can use the price guide here to help. If we know roughly how much you have to spend we can make recommendations on the types of designs to get the most out of your projected spend. Bear in mind your flower budget might cross over a bit with your decoration budget if you are having installations or reception/venue flowers.
We limit the number of weddings we take on each week to make sure we can give our best to each couple. Weekend dates in wedding season are particularly popular so we have a minimum spend for bookings between March and October.
For 2025 there will be a minimum spend of £1500 before delivery in peak season (March to October). For holiday weekends, which are especially popular dates, our minimum spend is £1.75k. For orders below the minimum spend we may be able to offer a grower’s choice package for collection from the studio depending on our other bookings.
If you are having a micro-wedding or are looking for an elopement package, we have an elopement package but also provide flowers for the Wee Wild Weddings team who plan elopements and micro-weddings across central Scotland.
Minimum Spend
After an initial consultation we will provide a quote and if you would like to secure the date we ask for a booking fee of 30% of the initial quote. This is non refundable. You can pay this by BACS or if you are paying from outside the UK we also Wise. You can have two rounds of revisions to the quote before you pay the booking fee. Your booking is not secured until you have paid the booking fee and signed our contract.
The final balance is due 6 weeks before your wedding date. We will be in contact with you before this date to confirm final details. If you have any questions we offer email support to help you in your planning and offer a video call 3 months before your wedding to finalise details.
We understand that some details may change from the original quote (additional buttonholes, one or two fewer tables etc), however we ask that you do not reduced the overall sum of the quote by more than 10% as we plan our staffing and availability for other weddings around the original quote. If this dramatically changes it has a big effect on our business.
PAyments
While we love to see images of other flowers and designs that inspire you, each Briar Rose Design creation is a one off. We will not copy other florist’s work, but can take any images sent to us as inspiration. We work best when you tell us the sorts of colours you like and share a few images that you love etc but leave the nitty gritty of individual flower choices to us. Please trust in our experience and training to help create your vision. We do not give customers a list of the exact flowers we will use as these may change depending on what is looking best in the flower field at the time of your wedding.
We do not create mock up designs for you to view, as each piece will be unique. As we use British grown seasonal flowers it is impossible to create an identical design months apart. You will not know exactly what flowers are being used until the day.
We do not work with baby’s breath/ gypsophila or dyed and sprayed materials. There are many other seasonal, British grown flowers that we could suggest instead, or other florists who are happy to work with these materials. Where possible we will use locally grown seasonal materials and work in an environmentally friendly way. You can read more about our ethos on our sustainability page. We do not work with floral foam and try to limit the use of single use plastics in our designs.
The designs
We will deliver your flowers to you on the morning of your wedding at an agreed time, usually 3 to 4 hours before your wedding. We deliver the flowers in water so they are drinking up until you need them. We prefer to deliver the flowers to the couple themselves so we know you are happy and we get to see your beautiful smiling face! We do not like to leave your flowers with anyone else. If you take your flowers out of water 10 minutes before you leave for the ceremony then this will ensure you do not get any water drips on your clothes. If you have to travel more than 15 minutes to get to the ceremony we recommend the flowers are put back in water for the journey. The ceremony and venue flowers will all be set up for you either on the day or the day before depending on your chosen venue.
To preserve bridal bouquets and any bridesmaids’ bouquets after the ceremony, ensure there are vases filled with water waiting for you at your wedding reception. They will add extra floral decoration to your reception and keep your flowers looking lovely. Fresh flowers are delicate and will be affected by heat whether that’s from heating in the room, the weather or lots of people, lights etc nearby.
